As I started typing this post, I was enjoying a wonderful late September evening where the weather was cooling down to a comfortable temperature and the unified songs of cicadas filled the air. At the time, I was sitting in a park with other parents watching our children during soccer practice. I recall observing a sense of restful calm from the parents, juxtaposed with the shrill of exuberant energy from the children. However for me, there was this overwhelming feeling of just thinking, feeling, living and being beautiful. I was in such a beautiful space, among beautiful people and around beautiful energy, while by-standing at my child’s soccer practice! It was in that moment that this post began to develop within me…identifying what beauty is. Defining how I create my sense of beauty; what it will look like, feel like and sound like? I truly believe that others cannot create beauty for me [or for you]. I mean, we can be inspired by beauty, drawn to beauty…as we should. However, it’s within the question of how are we defining and creating our own beauty where I would like to share my thoughts.
Beauty begins in the mind and is a personal journey from within our soul and spirit. It is the beauty in the company you keep and those you choose to move away from. Beauty is the comfort you feel in your own home or in the living spaces of others whose homes are filled with a welcoming presence. Beauty is defining your emotional boundaries and choosing who you decide to share your authentic self and trusting that individual with your vulnerabilities. Beauty is the confidence you have when wearing your favorite article of clothing, shoe or accessory and it is the comfort you feel when whatever you choose to wear will BE beautiful because YOU are wearing it.
Beauty is how we define it, find it and be it. However, it must start from within. Tell yourself you are beautiful. That your personality is beautiful, that the very person you are radiates beauty. So fill yourself with beauty…in what you see, in your thoughts, actions and in the way you treat yourself and others. Be confident. Smile…a lot! Speak your truth, be honest with yourself and with others. Celebrate the beautiful you, This is being beautiful…living beautiful!
Be inspired. Be empowered. Be fabulous!
