Inspired Reflections | The Creative Activists

I am always inspired when I am in beautiful spaces that embodies art, fashion, design, both cool retail and cultural spaces. These spaces seem to awaken the creative expressive side of me. These are indeed my happy place, my peace and motivation. Amazing spaces that are beautiful, calm, clean, artistic and creative. Yet within those inspiring, reflective spaces I am strengthened…challenged even…to give voice to messages of hope in a society that need to know that the promise of hope is evident.

As creatives we are social commentators. Being both impacted by and influencing society through education, art, music, writings, content creation, fashion and design expressions. We have something to say, in ways that touches the spirit, soul, mind and body. Causing one to reflect, re-examine and emote creative positivity within our society. Giving voice to activism that encourages, protects, lifts up and serves.

We are experiencing a season where the future seems to move from a range of uncertainty and quite possibly inconclusive outcomes to what is promising, hopeful and liberating. We are living through an amazing cultural revolution where the lives of people once pushed to the sidelines, misrepresented, dehumanized or devalued and representing diverse identities are being centered and uplifted. Admonished and protected in unprecedented ways. Is there still much work to be done? Absolutely! However, we are in a space where the voice of our educators, writers, artists, designers, musicians, motivators…our liberators are charged with the calling to speak for justice, inclusivity, protection and belonging all the more relevant NOW as have been in times past. We are all charged to add our voice, talents and positionality to this call. We are all social commentators. We all have something to say…and do!

You have something to say. What is your message? What is the creative outlet through which you will say it? Is it through writing, poetry, painting, sculpting, performing, style, education, ministering, or motivating? We are joined together on this calling and through this journey to change our society…our world…through our gifts and talents that will make a positive imprint and be a positive influence on the hearts and minds of all.

Be inspired. Be empowered. Be fabulous!
