Lol… I was looking at this video that I created in 2022…[chuckles]…I think in that video there was a combination of brain fog…[the menopause effect]…and the dire need to center self-care. Especially since I couldn’t even think of the words “self-care” in that moment. Oh my goodness…that was a HUGE indication that self-care was CRITICALLY needed. I was in a place in my career that I thoroughly enjoyed in my work with an educational nonprofit organization. My previous business venture, Black Paper + Cloth (that I launched in 2021) was definitely taking off. Life was busy, hectic; offering its own unique set of challenges and opportunities. I was in such an exhilarating place of peace, joy, contentment…. but very busy…and in review of the blogs that I wrote during that year, expressed my need for self-care, establishing boundaries, my love for creativity, and centering joy.
Therefore, the promise I am keeping for myself in 2026 is to center self-care. For me, self-care is working on the creative, artistic projects that give me joy in the freedom of self expression; amplifying my voice through writing, journaling and blogging. I am excited to begin writing books that have been decades in planning and are finally taking form. These works in progress that I will be excited to publish one day.
Self-care for me is establishing and maintaining boundaries as it relates to my work, my family, my personal well-being, and the behaviors, words and actions that I will allow or not allow in my personal, professional, emotional and spiritual space. Self-care for me, is the excitement and joy that I experience every day as I am growing my company, Felicia Clotworthy Collective, engaging with my clients, activating events and curating amazing experiences. Self-care for me is always sustaining my focus on living an elevated, cultured, chic, vision-focused, goal-centered, prosperous, and creative life for myself and for my family.
The Call To Action I’m employing for myself and onto you, my Community, is to center self-care. Don’t get overwhelmed by the big and grandiose notion of how you would like to experience self-care. Focus on selected areas and where you can accumulate those small wins that will lead to the larger goals you have planned for yourself. Whatever the previous year [2025] offered to us, 2026 becomes this amazing season for even greater opportunities, creativity, vitality, prosperity, health, positive outcomes, wellness…and at the core…self-care.
