While the household is still sleeping, I’m finding my peace. There’s something special about the morning quiet—just me, a fresh cup of coffee, and a pair of jeans that need a new hem. Starting the day with intention is a gift to myself.
There is a sacred window of time for me, usually between 4:00AM and 6:00AM, where the world feels suspended. The household is still, the sun emerges on the horizon, and the morning atmosphere carries a specific kind of clarity that the noise of midday does not offer.
I call this my Quiet Space.
In this space, I lean into this stillness—coffee in hand, sometimes my journal, or my phone and laptop to check emails, write, and plan for my day, the week, and my business. At other times, it’s a moment for a tactile project – knitting, cleaning, working on a denim restructuring project. I am an early riser and enjoy waking up early to encourage productivity before the demands of the world begin. It’s that space were I allow and make space for a focused shift that engages me in the internal work of designing my success.
The Intersection of Quiet and Impact
Success is often portrayed as loud, fast, and aggressive. However, transformative impact—the kind that creates an enduring imprint of authenticity—is born in the quiet.
When I sit down to write grants, draft blogs, or work on a project, I am merging my concept of Mindset, Style, and Strategy. The quiet allows for our internal vision to soften the effort of the external work. It’s where our confidence can deepen, allowing us to lean into productivity and architecting our amazing lives.

To lead a life of purpose and self-defined success, you must define that quiet space and protect that time as sacred to develop your vision, for effective planning and productivity. Here are five ways to cultivate the “Quiet Space” necessary for amazing impact:
- Honor the “Threshold Hour”: Claim at least 30 to 60 minutes for personal reflection, mediation or prayer, and to work on tasks that centers your focus on success. This is where positive energy is developed and cultivated.
- Engage in “Tactile Grounding”: Do something hands-on that centers you. Whether it’s knitting, reading, journaling or organizing your calendar for the week. Engage in the tasks that center your mindset and prepares you for the strategic thinking required later in the day.
- Curate Your Atmosphere: Success requires an environment that reflects your inner narrative. Your physical space should be a vibrant ecosystem for your ideas, whether that means absolute silence or a thoughtfully curated morning playlist.
- Practice “Strategic Solitude”: Use the quiet to create or review your pillars. Ask yourself: Do my Core Pillar(s) today align with my authentic identity? Use the stillness to pivot your plan before the day’s momentum takes over.
- Identify Your “Low-Friction” Projects: Use the early hours, or dedicated time during the day, for the tasks where “effort softens”—those meaningful projects that move the needle without draining you before other tasks demands your attention.
- Evolve Your Narrative – Style Yourself: The way you start your day sets the tone for how you show up in the world. With intention, use this time as an opportunity to curate something that lights up your creativity mode. It could be cooking, DIY projects, organizing, collecting vintage objects, or organizing your wardrobe to fit your lifestyle. Whatever it is, you have the power to edit and refine every aspect of your life—starting with your interests, hobbies or personal style.
In the stillness of your Quiet Space, your journey toward self-evolution truly begins. By protecting your threshold hour, you unlock an authentic power that is often challenged by the demands of the day. As the author of your own narrative, you recognize that every moment is an opportunity to refine your presence and your purpose. When strategy and style converge in this quiet space, you move from planning into becoming.
