The Journal: Morning Slow-Downs & The Art of Refueling | Volume 3, Issue 19

It is a Monday morning—two days after my 56th birthday, and a day I am beginning slowly and intentionally before preparing to head into work. For me, this window creates the perfect opportunity to reflect, plan, and ideate within a peaceful, calm, yet creatively productive space. In these quiet morning moments, I love tuning into my go-to watchlist, which always centers on interior design and fashion. Today, I immersed myself in two amazing runway shows: Prada Fall/Winter 2026 and Tibi Fall/Winter 2026.

Runway Inspiration

Prada F/W 2026 Collection

What spoke to me so deeply in both of these collections was the clever play on juxtapositions—striking color pairings, rich fabric textures, and silhouettes that naturally align with my personal aesthetic. The overall feeling is minimal, yet delivers an unexpected jolt of excitement. It’s understated and grounded, yet remarkably elevated.

  • Prada Fall/Winter 2026 mastered the art of layering and subtle complexity. The way textures and tailored pieces interact with a sort of deconstructed, reconstructed edge creates a look that is immensely wearable, yet each design stands out as a distinct statement piece. It’s the kind of fashion that instantly makes you feel confident, composed, and like you truly know who you are and what you’re doing.
  • Tibi Fall/Winter 2026 brought that signature “Creative Pragmatist” energy, deconstructed utility, rich Italian fabrications, paper-textured outerwear, and versatile trouser-skirt hybrids that bring fresh perspective to everyday suiting. The tailoring is sharp yet effortless, creating pieces that feel effortlessly stylish without trying too hard.
Tibi F/W 2026 Collection

What dominated both runways, and perfectly matches where I am in this stage of my life, was the emphasis on the skirt, socks, flat footwear, and smart lower heel heights. I loved seeing the sharp, pointed-toe flats featured throughout both the Prada and Tibi shows. In the Prada collection, the skirt was the absolute perfect length, beautifully paired with an embellished pair of socks that completely captured my vibe. And while socks weren’t the focus in the Tibi show, the intentional color pairings were unmistakably clear — a shoe or boot in crisp white or a muted taupe subtly accentuating and grounding every single look.

Seeing this embrace of flat shoes on the runway feels so validating because it mirrors a real shift in my own life. Choosing flats or lower boots isn’t just about comfort and walking with confidence instead of balancing on a high heel, it brings a laid-back, effortlessly chic element to a look. Having stepped away from three-inch heels a while ago now, I’ve found myself rethinking the shape of my clothes overall fit. While I still love and hold onto my full-length, sweeping trousers, I am moving my attention (a bit) from lengths designed to pool over heels. Instead, I’m actively evaluating how I want my trousers to fall, and assessing overall proportions of my garments, reorganizing my closet to accommodate and complement the lower shoe profiles I am wearing every day.

Creative Comfort & Intentional Style

Watching these collections always ignites something in me, I immediately felt the urge to sit at my sewing machine and craft a new dress using pieces from my pre-owned denim collection. That creative spark is a direct extension of how I approach style: it must be rooted in both comfort and inspiration. If those two elements don’t exist, I’m simply wearing the wrong thing. That’s why I am so intentional about what enters my wardrobe. Every piece must speak to me and connect with my personality and lifestyle ethos, a foundation built on individuality, creativity, and reflective centeredness.

When I step into my creative fashion space, it becomes my happy place and an escape where I can truly recharge. While these moments are often short-lived amidst the demands of daily life, as an introvert, I need this time to recalibrate. Refueling allows me to feel whole again so I can step out, do my work, and engage with the world. Attending to my passions isn’t just a hobby, it is my non-negotiable form of self-care.
